Kolë Idromeno
PhEST, International Photography and Art Festival of Monopoli, Italy
–
This exhibition shows some photographs recently found in the Marubi archive. The exact period photographs stem from is uncertain, but it is likely that they were produced between 1892-1894 when Kole Idromeno (1860-1939), the most representative figure of Albanian Renaissance, was working on his art projects. The photographs created by this talented and peculiar artist, might have been used as a preparatory stage for his paintings, but on the same time, the fact the images have been freed from the topics and the refined harmony of the paintings, reveals some contracts, an irony and a desire to enjoy the pleasures of life on earth.
