The series of masterclasses “Dark Room Lab” took place at the “Dugaja e Fotografise” (Photography Shop) an artist-run space for the exploration of old photography techniques and printing processes in the dark room.
The founder of the space, Erygs Vela, is a conceptual artist and professor of Photography in the Faculty of Arts, Shkoder. He focused on analogue photography techniques – both b/w and colors- and dark room printing showing the students how take pictures on roll films, how to print photos in dark room and the time involved in each of the processes.
Photographer Orestia Kapidani showed young photographers – who only work with digital – how to produce direct positive prints through contact prints or photograms.
A small exhibition with the work of the participants was organized at Dugaja e Fotografise.
This program was implemented as part of the Across Generations project sponsored by Goethe Zentrum Tirana.

The importance of our cultural heritage was highlighted in the workshop led by in collaboration with CHwB Albania. Participants were given a selection of images from the Marubi archive which they converted into sketches that later will be used to design a coloring book for the little visitors of the museum.

A wonderful morning spent with Zija Karini, woodwork master from an old artisan family of Shkodra which has engraved some of the most memorable images of the Albanian tradition. Under his mentorship, students used the technique of pyrography to engrave some images from the Marubi collection.

What are museum guides and which is their role? What information should they share with the visitors and which are the best practices of group orientation in a museum space? These and many other questions were answered in a workshop about museum guides organized with the vocational school “Hamdi Bushati”, tourism classes. The workshop started with a guided tour in the museum, later followed by a theoretical training and practical exercises related to the topic.

On the International Day of Monuments and Sites, in collaboration with the artisan Elvisa Plloçi, Made in Marubi was a workshop where students could learn how to create handmade photo albums with recycled materials. Considering the Marubi collection and its relation to the photographic heritage, the photo album is a way to promote the archive through the affective value of a selection of photos mounted in a handmade album carefully created by the participants.

Street art is form of expression of criticism and activism in public locations where artists find a way to convey their messages to a great extent.
This workshop organized with artist Ergin Zaloshnja started with a theoretical and multimedia lecture sharing experiences of street artists which have marked the subculture of this art. Participants were students from the art schools of Shkodra and Tirana. After the lecture, some selected images from the Marubi archive readapted with contemporary message and icons, were placed in different areas around the city.
