Rrok Zojzi
Ethnographic Expedition
–
The exhibition presents, for the first time, a selection of ethnographic photographs by Rrok Zojzi (1910–1995), a founding figure of institutional ethnography in Albania and a pioneer in the use of photography as a research tool.
Produced during a period of profound historical transformation, these images document traditional Albanian culture through clothing, dwellings, tools, rituals, and symbolic forms, constructing a visual geography of memory and identity.
Zojzi’s photography operates at the intersection of scientific documentation and archival artifact, offering an open field for interpreting cultural representation and historical temporality.
This exhibition was produced by the National Museum of Photography "Marubi" with the financial support of the Ministry of Tourism, Culture and Sports of Albania, and was carried out in collaboration with the Institute of Anthropology – Academy of Sciences of Albania.
